Concrete Cutting in Ras Tanura – Doorways, AC Cores & Wire Sawing

Concrete Cutting in Ras Tanura

Concrete cutting in Ras Tanura is a service we bring up from our Dammam base on days agreed in advance, as part of the work of Aemar Al-Maryam General Contracting. The crew arrives with a diamond wall saw, core drilling rigs and a wire saw to open doorways and windows in concrete walls, drill AC and drainage holes through roofs, cut heavy reinforced sections in commercial buildings and make vents in boundary walls, across Ras Tanura and Rahima. Because this is a seaside town, we also check how humid, salt-laden air has affected the concrete and steel along the edges of each opening before we cut. Small holes start from SAR 90; travel is worked out when we price the job, and bundling several jobs into one trip brings the per-opening figure down. To book: 0547879578.

People in Ras Tanura know that getting a specialist concrete cutter out usually means waiting, or paying for a whole trip for a single hole. So our service here is built differently. We plan the visit, gather everything you need (and sometimes what your neighbours need) into it, and load the right equipment for every task before we leave, so no trip is wasted and nobody has to come back for a forgotten tool.

Before you call: what matters in Ras Tanura

  • Visits: scheduled from Dammam; we set the day once we have your photos and sizes, so the right machines come with us.
  • Grouping jobs: AC cores, a new doorway and a wall vent in one visit cost less than three separate trips.
  • Coastal conditions: we inspect the opening edges for rusting rebar or spalled concrete and flag what needs treating afterwards.
  • Typical work: doorways onto balconies and courtyards, roof cores, vents in boundary walls and cutting old bases in commercial units.
  • Cost: our published rates start at SAR 90 for a small hole; travel is calculated at pricing according to how much work you group.
  • To book: send photos and sizes on WhatsApp to 0547879578.

Concrete Cutting in Ras Tanura: How We Plan Visits From Dammam and Group Jobs

We serve Ras Tanura with pre-planned visits rather than ad-hoc call-outs. It starts with a message from you containing photos and measurements. From that we decide which machines are needed, suggest a visit day and send you a reminder the day before. The crew then arrives with everything required, and in most cases the work is finished the same day.

The reason is simple. The cost of any cutting job is not just the minutes the blade spends in the concrete; it includes loading, setting up and anchoring the equipment and getting to the site. In Dammam that overhead is spread over many jobs on the same day. In Ras Tanura it is spread over whatever we bundle into your visit, which is why we always suggest you think through everything you need before you call.

Examples of work that fits into one visit

■ A single villa

A new door to the courtyard, three AC cores and a drainage hole in the roof.

■ An apartment building

AC cores for several flats on one day, or changes to service openings on the roof and stairwell.

■ A shop or commercial unit

Cutting out an old equipment base, widening a doorway and holes for ventilation ducts.

■ Neighbours on the same street

If the house next door needs similar holes, tell us and we will schedule both together.

Ask your neighbours before booking

Many neighbouring homes in Ras Tanura and Rahima need the same work at the same time of year, such as AC holes before summer. Scheduling the jobs together in one visit reduces the travel cost for everyone.

Sea Air and Salt: What It Means for Your Concrete Before and After Cutting

Concrete in a coastal town like Ras Tanura lives in humid air that carries salt. Over the years chlorides can work their way through the concrete until they reach the reinforcing steel. Once that happens the steel starts to rust, and because rust takes up more volume than the original steel, it pushes on the concrete from the inside until the surface cracks or flakes away. This is a well-known process in buildings near the sea, and it shows up most in exposed parts such as boundary walls, balconies and roof edges.

Why does it matter for cutting? When we saw an opening through a wall or slab we expose a fresh section of concrete and steel. If the concrete is sound, the edges come out clean and strong. If the steel has already started to corrode, it can show at the cut face, and that is the moment to stop and assess before going further.

Warning signs we look for before cutting

SignWhat it may indicateWhat we do
Brown or orange stains on the concrete surfaceCorrosion of steel close to the surfaceWe photograph it and tell you before cutting, and suggest an engineer if it is near the opening
Flaking or fallen pieces of the concrete skinRust expanding beneath the concrete coverWe do not cut in the damaged zone until it has been assessed
Cracks running parallel to the barsEarly pressure from corroding steelWhere possible we position the opening away from them
A hollow sound when lightly tappedThe outer layer has separatedWe mark out the affected area and report it to you

These are practical observations to help you decide; a final structural diagnosis belongs to a qualified engineer.

Protecting the cut edges in a coastal environment

A newly cut edge exposes the ends of the severed bars. In a seaside town those ends should not be left bare for long. The usual approach is to coat exposed steel with a rust-inhibiting primer, then cover the edge with a suitable repair mortar or close it in with the frame and finishes. We point this out and explain what each type of opening needs; the finishing contractor or the repair team nominated by the engineer can carry it out.

⚠ Do not cut next to spalled concrete without an assessment

If the wall or slab shows obvious spalling with visible steel near the planned opening, cutting can weaken that zone further. Get an engineer’s view first; they may recommend repairs before the opening is made, or a different position for it.

Door Openings in Concrete Walls in Ras Tanura

A doorway is opened in a Ras Tanura concrete wall with a track-mounted diamond wall saw. The rail is fixed to the wall, all four sides of the opening are cut in straight lines, and the block is then split and lifted out in pieces without the hammering that shakes a building. The most common request here is a door from the living room onto a balcony or courtyard, or turning a window into a sliding door with a view of the sea.

Before cutting we establish what kind of wall it is. If it carries a slab or forms part of the structure, an engineering office must specify the lintel and the temporary support. We install the steel lintel or props before the block comes out, and cover the floor with protection boards, because the grey slurry from cutting can stain marble and ceramic tiles.

A new window in an external wall

Adding a window to an outside wall changes the elevation, so municipal approval may be needed depending on the building. On the practical side, external walls in seaside homes are the most exposed to moisture and salt, so we check their condition around the new window before cutting and recommend treating the edges once the opening is made, so corrosion does not start there.

When a sea-facing window becomes a sliding door to the balcony, we pay attention to the threshold level. An open balcony floor should sit slightly lower than the living-room floor, or be separated by a sill, so rain and wash water stay outside. We cut the lower part of the wall down to the level the aluminium fabricator specifies and leave a straight edge that makes it easy to fit and seal the bottom track.

Enlarging openings that already exist

Making an existing door or window bigger is often simpler than starting a new one, because a lintel is usually already in place, but that is not a fixed rule. If the enlargement extends beyond the existing lintel, it needs the same engineering assessment. Details of the service are on our door and window openings page.

Concrete Coring in Ras Tanura: AC Holes Through Roofs and Walls

Concrete coring in Ras Tanura means drilling a round hole with a hollow diamond bit on a rig fixed to the wall or roof slab. Out comes an intact plug of concrete, leaving a smooth bore for refrigerant pipes, drains or cabling. It is the service we are asked for most in Ras Tanura, especially before summer when new air-conditioning units are being installed on roofs.

Roof Core Drilling in Ras Tanura
Core holes for air-conditioning lines in the roof slab of a villa near the beach in Ras Tanura

Core holes for split air conditioners

For a split unit, manufacturers ask for a hole close to 65 mm that tilts gently downwards towards the outdoor side, letting condensate escape instead of dribbling indoors. A compact rig handles it while the wet vacuum keeps pace with the water, and if several rooms need holes we do them all in the same visit.

Roof penetrations for services and drainage

On roofs we are asked for vertical holes through the slab for central AC pipework, drainage or cables. We scan the slab with a rebar detector first so that no main reinforcement is cut, then drill. Once the pipes are through, we recommend resealing the waterproofing around the hole carefully, because water or damp air getting into a slab in a coastal environment speeds up corrosion of the steel.

Wall Sawing in Ras Tanura Without Breaking

Wall sawing without breaking is the answer when you need an alteration inside an occupied home or a shop that is trading. The diamond wall saw cuts concrete and steel together in one straight line while water holds the dust down, so there is no cloud spreading through the rooms and none of the vibration that hammering sends into neighbouring walls. Heavy wall saws reach roughly 73 cm in a cut from one face, which covers practically every wall in homes and apartment buildings.

We also use wall sawing to remove a section of wall between two rooms to enlarge a living area, to make a service opening in an electrical room wall, or to link two adjoining shops. In each case the lines are set out with a laser measuring tool before cutting, and we confirm that the wall is not load-bearing or that we have an engineering opinion on it.

■ Inside an occupied home

Floors and furniture covered, slurry vacuumed up and the area cleaned when we finish.

■ In a trading shop

Working hours arranged around customers and the cutting zone screened off.

■ An external wall facing the sea

Edges checked before cutting, with advice on treating them once the opening is made.

Cutting Courtyard and Shop Floors in Ras Tanura for Drainage Channels

In homes and shops close to the sea there is often a need for better drainage of rainwater and courtyard wash-down, or for a new drain or cable route under an existing concrete floor. For this we use a diamond floor saw: two parallel cuts at the channel width, the strip between them divided and lifted out, leaving a channel with straight edges that take a grating or cover neatly.

A floor saw cuts to roughly 24 cm, which is enough for most courtyard, entrance and shop slabs. After the pipes are laid we recommend closing the channel with concrete or a suitable mortar and a finish that stops salty water pooling on the edges, because repeated wetting and drying with salt-laden water weakens the concrete surface over time.

Before cutting a courtyard floor

Agree the drainage fall and the outlet point with your plumber first, then chalk the route on the floor and photograph it. A straight saw cut follows the line you draw; it will not correct a wrong fall.

Slab Cutting in Ras Tanura: Stair and Roof-Access Openings

Slab cutting in Ras Tanura is usually requested for a new internal staircase, a roof-access hatch or a large duct route. It is a structural alteration that begins with a drawing from an engineering office setting the opening size and edge strengthening. We then install temporary props under the slab and cut the opening as small sections, each lowered one at a time so nothing drops.

In coastal homes we add one more check. If the underside of the slab shows rust stains or spalling near the planned opening, we ask for the engineer’s assessment before cutting, because a slab with corroded steel needs different strengthening. For roof openings we also remind you that sealing and waterproofing the hatch properly afterwards is essential to keep water out.

Reinforced Concrete Cutting in Ras Tanura With a Diamond Wire Saw

When a Ras Tanura warehouse has an old equipment plinth to get rid of, or any mass of concrete deeper than a blade can reach, the tool is the diamond wire saw. A beaded steel rope runs round the mass, guided by wheels and pulled tight by a hydraulic drive, cutting concrete and steel together under a constant water spray, without the vibration that breaking causes.

Wire Sawing in Ras Tanura
Dismantling an old reinforced concrete equipment base with a diamond wire saw inside a commercial warehouse in Ras Tanura

This method suits warehouse and shop owners who want to remove an old base to install new equipment, or rework an interior, without closing for days. After cutting, the block is divided into pieces light enough for the lifting gear available. If the site lies inside an area that requires an entry permit, please arrange it in advance so the visit is not delayed.

In commercial buildings we also check the slab type before any coring or cutting. Some modern slabs are post-tensioned and contain stressed steel tendons that must never be cut. We ask for the drawings where they exist, scan the slab with suitable equipment to locate the tendons before starting, and leave decisions on any structural element to the engineer.

Cutting a Wall With a Grinder in Ras Tanura: Boundary Walls and Vents

The hand-held cut-off saw, which most people call a grinder, is right for lighter work: a vent in a boundary wall, trimming an edge, cutting blockwork or scoring before breaking. The deepest common hand-held cutters reach about 12.5 cm, which covers a lot of boundary-wall work but is not enough for a thick reinforced wall.

Cut-Off Sawing in Ras Tanura
Cutting a small ventilation opening in the concrete boundary wall of a coastal villa in Ras Tanura with a hand-held cut-off saw

In homes near the sea some owners ask for vents in boundary walls to reduce trapped humidity in the courtyard, or for openings to let rainwater out. We cut these with the hand-held saw and water, then remind you to treat the edges, because the boundary wall is among the parts of a house most exposed to sea air. A thick reinforced wall, on the other hand, we cut with the wall saw so the job does not end in breaking and ragged edges.

Laser Wall Cutting in Ras Tanura: The Facts

“Laser wall cutting” is a common search, but no contractor slices a reinforced concrete wall with a laser beam. The cut itself is made by a diamond rail saw or wire saw, while lasers are used in the measuring instruments that set out and level the cut lines precisely. Laser research on concrete has been limited to removing a surface layer a few millimetres deep in specialised projects.

So when you ask for laser wall cutting in Ras Tanura, what you really want is accurate lines, clean edges and no breaking, and that is what diamond cutting with laser set-out delivers. The full explanation is in our article on laser wall cutting.

Concrete Saws in Ras Tanura: What We Bring for Each Job

Because our Ras Tanura visits are scheduled, we decide the machines before leaving Dammam, based on your photos and sizes. This table shows what we normally load for each kind of job:

Concrete Cutting and Coring in Ras Tanura: Why Cut Instead of Break in an Occupied Home?

Cutting and coring protect your home from the three side effects of breaking: vibration that can crack tiles and neighbouring walls, dust that reaches every room, and broken edges that need wider repairs. On the coast there is a fourth reason. Breaking exposes more steel and leaves cracked concrete around the opening, and those zones are the first to suffer from moisture and salt later on.

Diamond cutting leaves one clean, limited edge that is easy to treat and close, so the surrounding concrete stays intact. That is why we prefer sawing for every opening inside a home, even when the core of a large block is broken out after the perimeter has been cut.

Concrete Cutting Company in Ras Tanura: How to Compare Quotes

When you compare quotes from concrete cutting companies in Ras Tanura, do not look only at the price per hole. Ask about these points:

  • ✓Is the travel charge clear from the start? For a town some distance from the company base, you should know what you pay for travel before the visit, not discover it on the invoice.
  • ✓Can your jobs be grouped into one visit? An organised contractor will suggest it to bring your cost down.
  • ✓Will they inspect the concrete before cutting? In a seaside home, checking edges and scanning for steel is essential.
  • ✓What equipment will they bring? For a doorway through reinforced concrete, expect a rail saw and coring kit on the truck; a hand cutter alone will not do it.
  • ✓How will they protect the house? Floor covers, a wet vacuum for slurry and a clean-up afterwards.
  • ✓Will they ask for engineering advice when needed? Cutting a slab or a load-bearing wall without an engineer exposes you to a risk no saving is worth.

After the Cut: Looking After the Opening in a Home Near the Sea

The cutting is done in a day, but how long the opening lasts depends on what happens next. In Ras Tanura’s humid, salty air, a few simple steps extend the life of the edges and stop corrosion from starting at the opening:

  • ✓Treat exposed steel quickly: bar ends at the cut face need a rust-inhibiting coat before finishing; do not leave them bare for weeks.
  • ✓Seal around AC lines: once the pipes are through, close the gap around them with a flexible sealant so damp air and water cannot get into the wall.
  • ✓Re-waterproof roof penetrations: a hole through the roof is a weak point in rain, so restore the waterproofing around it carefully.
  • ✓Choose frames suited to humidity: a new door or window frame protects the edge if it is fitted tightly and its joints are sealed.
  • ✓Check the edges every year: if brown stains or hairline cracks appear around the opening, deal with them early before they spread.

Most of these do not need a specialist contractor; a finishing or waterproofing technician can handle them. The point is to do them early, because treating a sound edge is far easier and cheaper than repairing concrete that has already spalled.

Safety During Cutting in Ras Tanura: Water, Power and Dust

Diamond cutting is always wet: water cools the blade and traps silica dust that harms the lungs if it spreads dry. But water near electricity needs precautions, especially in coastal homes where humidity is already high. We use water-protected electrical connections and residual-current breakers that cut the supply at any leakage, and keep panels and sockets away from the water run-off.

We keep children and household staff away from the work zone, support every cut block so it cannot fall, and lift heavy pieces with proper equipment. On roofs we secure the edges and make sure the rig is firmly anchored to the slab before drilling, because wind on rooftops near the sea can be stronger than people expect.

Concrete Cutting Prices in Ras Tanura

Our Ras Tanura list: SAR 90 as the starting point for each small hole such as an AC core, SAR 75 as the starting point for each linear metre sawn through a wall or slab of ordinary thickness, a doorway or window opening from SAR 140, and SAR 280 as the starting point for a complete wall cutting job. All are estimates until inspection and agreement. Because the town is outside Dammam, travel and equipment mobilisation are set when we price the work according to its size, with no fixed fee imposed in advance.

How grouping jobs lowers the cost per opening

Imagine you need just one AC hole: you carry the whole cost of the trip and the rig set-up on your own. If you group four AC holes and a wall vent, the same travel and set-up cost is shared across five jobs, and each one’s share drops noticeably. That is why we always ask whether there is anything else in the house, or next door. You can check the rest of our work on the estimated prices guide.

Engineering Advice and Permits for Cutting in Ras Tanura

It depends on the type of work. Coring a modest hole for refrigerant pipes or plumbing is not normally treated as structural work, as long as its position is scanned first and kept away from main bars. Opening a door in a wall that carries the slab, cutting part of a floor or working close to a beam are changes to the structure itself. They call for a study by a licensed engineering office that specifies the strengthening, and may need a licence through the Balady platform, for example a restoration licence or an approval to alter building components. We follow the approved drawing and keep well away from columns.

In Ras Tanura specifically we suggest involving an engineer whenever the element shows rust or spalling, even for a relatively small opening, because the condition of the steel affects the strengthening required.

■ Usually no permit

AC and plumbing cores, small vents through garden walls, and partitions in blockwork that carry no load.

■ Engineer’s opinion

A door in a load-bearing wall, enlarging a large opening, or cutting near moisture-damaged concrete.

■ May need a licence

A stair opening in a slab, a window that changes the elevation, or any change to structural elements.

Mistakes That Make a Ras Tanura Visit Longer or More Expensive

For towns we reach on scheduled visits, any missing information shows up immediately: a machine we did not bring, a job we did not know about, or a date that clashes with something at home. These are the mistakes we see most, and how to avoid them:

  • ✓Sending one close-up photo: a close-up does not show where the opening sits on the wall. Send one wide shot and one close shot.
  • ✓Remembering small jobs after booking: an extract-fan hole added on the day may need a bit we did not bring. Write the full list from the start.
  • ✓Booking without someone at home: arriving at a locked house is a lost visit. Make sure someone is there to open up and direct the work.
  • ✓Not mentioning the floor or roof access: the machines are heavy; knowing about stairs, lifts and roof access helps us plan how to carry them.
  • ✓Ignoring the condition of the concrete: if you see spalling or rust near the opening, photograph it and send it. Knowing in advance beats finding out mid-cut.
  • ✓Waiting for summer to install ACs: demand for AC holes rises as the heat arrives, and booking early gets you a better date.

What to Send on WhatsApp to Set Your Ras Tanura Date and Cost

Because we prepare the equipment before setting off, every detail you send saves you time and money:

  • ✓Pictures inside and out: show the element from each side, and add a close-up of any staining or flaking you have noticed.
  • ✓Dimensions: opening width and height or hole diameter, and wall thickness if you can measure it at an existing opening.
  • ✓Location: Ras Tanura or Rahima, which floor, and whether there is a lift or a narrow staircase.
  • ✓The full job list: every hole you need, even small ones, so we can group them into one visit.
  • ✓Suitable days: when the home or shop is available for the work.

FAQ

How much does concrete cutting cost in Ras Tanura?

An AC hole starts at SAR 90, sawing at SAR 75 a metre, and a new doorway or window at SAR 140. All figures are estimates until inspection and agreement, with travel added when we quote.

Will you come to Ras Tanura for a single hole?

Yes, but the travel and set-up cost then falls on that one hole. We recommend grouping everything you need into one visit so each opening costs less.

How do you schedule a visit to Ras Tanura?

Once we have your photos and sizes, we decide the equipment, propose a visit day and confirm it with you the day before.

Does sea air affect concrete cutting?

The cutting itself is not affected, but older concrete in coastal towns may have steel that has started to corrode. We inspect the opening edges before cutting and advise on treating exposed steel afterwards.

What if there is rust or spalling near where I want the opening?

We stop cutting in that zone and photograph it for you, and recommend an engineer’s opinion; they may advise repairs before opening up, or moving the opening.

Do you work in Rahima?

Yes. We cover Ras Tanura and Rahima with the same services and prices, with travel set at the pricing stage.

Can you open a doorway from the living room to the balcony in a concrete wall?

Yes, with a diamond wall saw and no breaking. If the wall is load-bearing we ask for an engineering office’s opinion and fit the lintel or props before removing the block.

What size hole does a split AC need?

Manufacturers specify roughly 65 mm, angled a little downward towards the outdoor unit. Pricing begins at SAR 90.

Is laser wall cutting available in Ras Tanura?

Concrete walls are not cut by laser in building work. Cutting is done with diamond saws, and lasers are used in the measuring tools that mark the lines accurately.

Is a grinder good enough for a vent in my boundary wall?

Yes for small openings and thinner walls, as a hand-held cut-off saw reaches about 12.5 cm. A thicker reinforced wall needs a wall saw.

Do you cut equipment bases in commercial warehouses?

Yes. The diamond wire wraps around the base and cuts it whatever its thickness, almost, without shaking the building; we then split it into pieces the warehouse lifting gear can handle.

Does cutting a slab need a permit?

Slab cutting is a structural alteration that needs a study by an engineering office and may require a licence through Balady. We do not start without a drawing that sets the size and strengthening.

How is my home kept clean while you cut?

We cover floors and furniture, cut wet so dust is held down, vacuum the slurry as we go and clean up when the work is finished.

What should I send before the visit?

Photos of the wall or slab from both sides, sizes, the floor level, a list of all the work you need and the days that suit you. With this we bring the right equipment first time.
